Register for a tour of the Javits Center’s 6.75-acre green roof, one of the largest of its kind in the United States! Home to 26 bird species, five bat species and thousands of honeybees, the green roof has become a sanctuary for area wildlife while helping to reduce energy consumption throughout the convention center on Manhattan’s West Side. Free tours are available on first-come, first-serve basis. New tour dates coming in 2019!
Tours are not provided during inclement weather due to safety concerns. If a tour should be canceled for any reason, we will notify attendees via email. Make sure to check your inbox beforehand in case there are any updates!
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes/sneakers. You will be walking or standing a fair amount -- our green roof is the second largest in the country!
Children are allowed on tours, but we recommend bringing baby carriers for infants and leaving strollers in our lobby area before going on the tour.
Tour season for our green roof starts in April and ends at the end of October.
Within New York City, public transportation is always a quick and affordable way to go- and the opening of the new 7 Subway line extension across the street makes the trip even more convenient.
